First Look Studios and Shorewood Packaging Go Green

New York, NY - March 18, 2008 - First Look Studios and Shorewood Packaging, a business of International Paper, have kicked off the next phase of their joint program to promote sustainable packaging and environmental stewardship.  They have taken a hands-on approach (quite literally) by participating in a volunteer event organized by TreePeople.  TreePeople is a nonprofit organization that has served the Los Angeles area for more than three decades, offering sustainable solutions to revitalize urban ecosystems.

On Saturday, March 15, dozens of team members from First Look Studios and Shorewood Packaging met at Malibu Creek State Park to help restore part of its oak woodland habitat.  They planted native grasses and oak seedlings in one of the groves established by volunteers over the last 10 years.

"We are proud to continue our commitment to the environment in such a personal way and in our own backyard," says First Look COO, Dean Wilson.  "Our studio was so enthusiastic in working on this event that our numbers grew exponentially.  Family and friends came by the carload."

Dustin Wills, Shorewood's Vice President of Sales, echoes this excitement.  "We have been working closely with First Look, International Paper and TreePeople to make this happen.  It's great to be able to 'walk the talk' when it comes to social responsibility, as a company and as individuals."

The next phase of this historic "Go Green" collaboration will take place over the course of 2008.  First Look Studios will be planting 2,000 trees to offset emissions generated by the manufacture of approximately one million DVD packages.

First Look Studios recently released its first batch of DVD screeners in the Flip-Pak, one of Shorewood's greenchoice™ packaging options.  The Flip-Pak is an all paperboard package made of 100 percent recycled and recyclable Prokote™ paperboard.  The Flip-Pak screeners also featured the SFI®-certified logo as well as the recycled and recycling logos, demonstrating sustainable fiber sourcing of the paperboard.

First Look and Shorewood Packaging will continue to seek additional ways to promote sustainable packaging.
