International Paper has a legacy of stewardship. We believe stewardship captures the idea of making solid choices that support the long-term sustainability of our operations and provide innovative products and solutions for our customers, while protecting the ecosystems on which we all depend and reducing our environmental footprint.
That means every phaase of our supply chain from fiber procurement to manufacturing, distribution,slaes, and recycling has been carried out in a safe and responisble manner. Our greatest hope is that, generations from now, our efforts in these areas will reflect International Paper's broader commitment to stewardship and to the future.
SFI® Certified -
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative® is the largest North American forest certificatin standard and is an internationally recognized environmental program that works to broaden the practices of sustainable forestry. The moves are part of our commitment to forest stewardship and providing customers a broad range of products made from renewable resources.
National Park Foundation - First Bloom
First Bloom is a simple idea. The National Park Foundation works with youth groups to bring children - particularly urban kids - to nearby national parks, where park rangers teach them about plants native to the area. Then the kids dig in, nurturing the natural habitats and designing gardens to show off the park landscape and beautify their neighborhoods.
Through hands-on immersion into the science of native plants and habitat restoration, First Bloom helps kids connect in new ways to their environment and develop and early passion for conservation.
In 2007, International Paper donated over 35,000 ecotainer™ cups, to be used as planters, for the First Bloom program
