Stewardship

The definition of 'stewardship' is rooted in the idea of managing something for someone else's benefit.  As a successful public company, International Paper has demonstrated for more than a century a commitment to managing the interests of our shareholders, our customers and our employees.  Stewardship is the term we employ to reflect our commitment to also manage for a larger good.

Stewardship captures the idea of making choices that support the long-term sustainability of our operations; of keeping people safe and healthy; of protecting ecosystems upon which we all depend; of being a good neighbor that contributes to a sense of community; and of business behavior that is always honest and true.  We hope that in becoming familiar with our activities in these areas you will appreciate why we see these efforts as all being a part of a broader stewardship commitment.
