Paul J. Karre joined International Paper in 1974 as an industrial relations specialist at the Georgetown, South Carolina, mill.  After working in a variety of corporate and business human resources roles, he was named director of human resources, IP Europe, in 1989.   In 1993, Paul returned to the United States and held several positions including HR director for the bleached board division, HR director for the U.S. converting businesses, and HR director for the consumer packaging group.  In July 2000, Paul was named vice president of human resources.  He was named senior vice president of human resources and communications in 2009.
