The Chairman's Diversity Council is a representative group of employees supporting senior management to create and maintain a culturally rich and collaborative work environment, where each employee is engaged and valued as a full contributor. Since the Council was formed in 2001, many individuals have participated in creating the vision for diversity at International Paper and fulfilling the mission. The journey is both exciting and rewarding as a result of the efforts and foundation laid by past council members.

Our Mission
Help position International Paper as the best by any measure in the areas of People Development, Customers and Operational Excellence. Facilitate widespread understanding and support of International Paper's definition of diversity and its benefits. Leverage diversity to improve business and shareholder value.
Our ongoing goals are to:
- Make International Paper more representative at all levels to compete effectively in our global environment;
- Address company-wide issues, including our definition of diversity, our diversity vision, recruitment, development, advancement and training, as well as other issues affecting our employees and operations;
- Help all employees understand and appreciate the diversity value that their co-workers bring to the workplace;
- Create an environment that is progressive, flexible and inclusive, drawing upon the strength of our diverse workforce;
- Recommend metrics that effectively measure the progress of our diversity strategy
